Let's see if Matt understand PNG

I'm working on a comic/manga called Touch Starved World (hyphen omitted for style reasons). If anyone has advice on how to publish an indie comic, I'll take it. Including which publishers to talk to, etc. I don't even know if the whole thing will be in color or black and white or screentoned. It's too early to tell.

I tried to remember American mangaka who have published indie comics in this country and I couldn't. My brain not good now. I'm sure there are multiple publishers I could talk to. I dunno. I'm in the dark here, all I know is how to draw, and even that is debatable.

If you're reading this, then you should know that you're the first to find out that I'm opening myself for commissions.

A few months ago I wrote up a 7-year-plan for what I'm doing with my life, and as it turns out, the plan involves me becoming both a self-employed, professional artist but also a published author. In the beginning, I expect to make a good chunk of my money from commissions, but I'm also working on multiple comics at the moment, one of them being an ongoing webcomic. I have three more novels planned (I've already written one, which might be unpublishable for Scientology reasons), and those will get knocked out one by one over the next decade. A friend of mine built me a new computer which has 4x the RAM that my old computer had, which is absolutely crucial for coloring big files in Photoshop. I also still owe him around $250 for it, so that's my first short term goal with commissions. So, let's talk.

COMMISSIONS SOFT OPENING:

What this basically means is I haven't solidified my price structure and process yet, so everything I'm about to say is negotiable.

Character sketches: $20 for one full-body character and add $15 for each additional character

Colored pieces: $50 for one full-body character and $25 for each additional character

Half payment up front, half upon completion

turnaround time goal: 2 weeks

Venmo or Paypal only

This goes for SFW and NSFW subject matter. I know I haven't been exactly public about it, but I do draw hentai and I'm decent at it and I plan to draw a good amount of it for money if at all possible. If you're interested in that, I can figure out a way to show you some examples. (I don't think DA allows it.) A lot of my DA submissions are borderline pornographic anyway so this should not be a surprise.

As far as what I can do, if you've seen my gallery, you know what I'm capable of. Realistic portraits, anime style character pics and portraits, cuddly art, anime style, design elements, comic pages, etc. If you need a single pic with 20+ characters in it, I can do that and so can my computer. Furry characters and geometric backgrounds are not my strong suit at the moment but I can always get better. Even if I continue to produce sketchy works, I'd like to be able to produce images that are completely clean and polished, so I'll be moving in that direction. And I have never failed to finish a commission once I've agreed to it.

If it wasn't already clear, as of very late 2021, I'm coming back to the art world. I survived 9 years of depression, mental illness, occasional drug use and alcoholism. I decided that I'm tired of doing jobs I don't care about that don't utilize my skills, for pittances, and I'm going to try to make my money doing art. It's weird having goals at all, but long-term goals in particular are so foreign to me. Here's mine: I'd like to be relying completely on art and writing in 3-5 years. In 3-6 months' time (i.e., by June 1st, 2022), I will start a Patreon.

Once the Patreon is live, only a small fraction of my art will make it onto Deviantart. The rest will be available only for those super-niche fans willing to pay a small fee per month to see my life's work. So until that happens, please enjoy whatever I post here, and if it turns out you consistently enjoy my artistic struggle, consider paying a small price (the first tier will be $1 per month) to support my efforts. ($1 a month! Come on, you won't even notice it). One of the tiers will definitely contain some NSFW art.

I should also note that since I intend to make money from art, eventually I'll be doing commissions again. I'm not sure when, just thought I'd let y'all know. But I don't have a tablet right now so colored, polished pieces will be few and far between until I get one. I also don't have a price structure in mind, so if you have opinions about how much I should charge, I'd love to hear your thoughts. And yes, I will probably start going to anime conventions again.

One final thing. If you ever complimented my work, or told me my art inspired you, or noticed any of my new posts... thank you. Thank you so much.
