Warning: MAJOR SPOILER!!!!!
This is an image depicting one of the final scenes from the last episode of Trigun. This image contains a major spoiler. Don't view this image if you don't want the series to be spoiled. You've been warned. NOTE: If the preview image appears the same as the final image, then please click here... THIS IS THE FULL VIEW!!!: [link] Having said that... I feel this is one of my best works ever, if not *the* best. It's certainly the most effort I've put into a single piece of art since I've started practicing art. I started it the very night after I finished watching the Trigun series last year. The sketch is actually on 6 different pieces of paper (one 14"x17", five 8"x11"s), which I VERY laboriously pasted together in Photoshop. Then the hard part came. As I CGed it, the actual image size is over 12000 pixels wide and about 5000 tall, at 300dpi. The PSD was 3 layers and over 300mB. (Near the end, the PSD was 7 layers, but I flattened it without saving so I don't know the final size). I abandoned the CG halfway through for several months, because I couldn't solve the lighting problem. I got help from Will Ruzicka, but only recently have I begun working on it again. So I finally finished it. During its whole life I've only opened it and saved it less than 10 times, because it takes about 3 minutes to do either. On several occasions I had to actually clean out my hard drive, because I didn't have enough HD space to save it, and not enough RAM to even open it. I can't tell you how glad I am that it's done. I think my final work time was... 25 hours, maybe 30. Unfortunately, just as I finished and closed file, Photoshop is unable to open the final hi-res JPG because it's "corrupt" or something. Now I have to go back and redo about an hour of CGing to get it back X_X But I have the lo-res, and that's what I'm uploading here... it really should be viewed at larger than 1200 pixels wide (10% of its original size), but to be honest, I don't want people printing this out and selling it. I'll try to get prints of this sucker made somehow, so if you really want one badly, send me a note or email. Unfortunately DAprints doesn't allow copyrighted characters That's about it. I debated on the color scheme for awhile, because Vash's traditional red trenchcoat looked terrible against blue sky. So I went with an alternate color (that incidentally, appears on a limited edition statue)--black trenchcoat. As for the sky, it once was blindingly blue, but I couldn't let the image get away without my preferred brown color burn... so the final version is a mixture of the two. I know I'm sane. see, I'm sane enough to know I'm crazy, so I'm not completely crazy, but when i say I'm NOT crazy, then I'll have gone crazy, because I'll no longer be sane enough to know I'm going crazy.
I am better than normal! I am abnormal!

Life is like a TI-89 graphing calculator~
Those feathers are simply amazing, and I'm glad you went with the alternate colour for his jacket, as the red (as you said) would've made him stand out too much. I love the pained/surprised expression on his face, and pays excellent homage to the end of a wonderful series.
