A bit of Prisoner of Azkaban fanart. This scene didn't happen in the movie, but it did in the book. (Unless I remember incorrectly... feel free to argue.)

I spent waaayyy too long on this. Pencil sketch on cardstock took like 3 hours, mostly because of all the wrinkles and Harry's hair, and because I kept fixing Harry's nose and mouth, which are still stupid and wrong-looking. Then the CG (Photoshop7+tablet) took forever because I was trying to be more painterly and detailed. Then I couldn't decide which version looked the best, and I had 2 good artist friends pushing me in opposite directions. But in the end, I was persuaded to keep my original vision: to make it look like the movie: all gray and depressing.

No one commissioned this, it's just for fun. I guess it took a total of 18 or 19 hours (yes... that long. Damnit.)

I should note that some of the shadows are wrong because I started this pic with the intention of having a single light source (the moon), but in the end I was persuaded () to put the 'soul' orb in. It kinda makes some of the shadows wrong... but eh, it was past flattening at that point, and I didn't want to rework the lighting entirely. It is what it is.
