I was at a loss for which category to put this in. Feel free to suggest a better one.
Mechanical pencil on 8.5x11 paper (2 hours?), painting in Photoshop 7 with 4x6 Wacom (around 8 hours) She is supposed to look like both a bride and a widow. Feel free to debate the statement, if you think there is one. But I'm more concerned with critique n_~ And for the record... I can't stand the nipples. Remind me not to draw them next time. EDIT: I forgot, here's the sketch and a painting detail (respectively) for those who are interested: [link] [link] Comments
Well, for the record, this is probably one of the creepiest pictures I've ever seen. A bride/widow...I think of war brides. Her hand gesture and her rolled shorts show her insecurities while her still tilted upright head shows that she's still waiting hopefully.
-- "Everyone has their price. Mine is $6.00. You can have me for $6.00." ~Michael Ian Black hmmm very nice although the hands seem a bit small to me...seing as they're about the size of the head in proportions. The overall design and concept is amazing i love the use of colour and intrecate designs on the clothing and jewelry. Its very dark and Gothic, very nicely done.
-- I want her dress for my (never-happening) wedding. XD It is a gorgeous design. And the shading has the most beautiful painted texture to it.
-- My family! The Digital Art Gallery Excellent thought in having her eyes closed. The character she portrays with the hunched back, closed eyes, and slight tilt with the head really show she is accepting the defeat she so slowly strides into. The headpiece throws me off a little with me thinking of a warrior female breaking before the might of another. Her freewill is snapped and cuffed like her fingers (intertwined like tough rope). The collar really addes to the 'chained' impression like she will forever be a slave to her mate.
So, in essence, she is slowly walking to her own funneral. The real imagery here is in the imagination as you think and chew on the reason why she looks like that instead of 'perfecting' it. Her flaws only seem to add more to her character and the symbolism you portray. -- To twist one purest cause Into an honest verse, Itself, a call to angels. The saddened lips of song that Kiss away our innocence From the vile mundane. ~justb hm... i like this, creepy indeed...though she reminds me more of a shaman...
